About the Boykin Spaniel
The Boykin Spaniel breed is an exceptional family dog and
a talented hunter. They quickly acquire admirers with
their willing, happy attitudes.
Most breeds with the word "Spaniel" in the name were
developed to hunt game or birds (sometimes referred to as
sporting or gundog breeds). The Boykin has avoided some
pitfalls of more popular hunting breeds and retained their
abilities to work all day in flushing and retrieving
birds. These qualities are important to trainers in all
dog sports who want a dog with a strong desire to please
and a good work ethic.
However, some people are not ready to own a dog - any
dog! Before bringing a new dog into your home, consider the
costs involved with care and feeding a dog as well as the
time and effort that will need to be invested in training
and grooming. Think about the time that will be required
in training and caring for your dog and make the decision
to add a dog into your home by using your head and not
just your heart.

get a dog, please consider adopting a rescue dog who needs
a home or possibly volunteering as a foster home for dogs
who are in transition.
