Dog Parks
As the nation becomes less rural and more urban most
communities rely on their local parks as a location for outdoor
exercise and recreation. Unfortunately many parks are
restrictive of dogs with some banning dogs from the premises
completely.
All over the country parks are dedicating themselves to
designing areas that allow dogs. Generally a park that is termed
"dog park" offers areas designated for dogs which are often
fenced for off leash enjoyment. Parks and their amenities can
vary greatly in size and structure. Some charge an entry fee to
help cover the costs of fencing and maintenance. Some are owned
by local and state governments while some may be privately owned
land.
The Dogpark.com (www.thedogpark.com)
is a complete guide to dog parks across the country. Their site
is frequently updated with nationwide directories of dog parks
and dog related services. The site will help you locate a park
in your area.
