International All Breed CanineAssociation of AmericaThe IABCA of America is a registry and show sanctioning organization that makes the "UCI" Union Cynologie International championship title available to dogs in the USA. Their philosophy is that dogs are rated against the breeds' standard, not against other dogs. Dogs who compete in these shows receive a written critique from the judge when they leave the ring and a rating number as to how closely the dog conforms to the written standard. IABCA shows are modeled after European rules but choose to affiliate with UCI (a secondary European registry) rather than FCI. (FCI recognizes AKC as the official kennel club of the US even though it is not a member club.) The term "Int. CH." as a prefix has sometimes been used in place of "UCI CH.". This has caused some confusion as the FCI (Federation Cynologique Internationale) also uses the term "Int. CH.". More IABCA information, show calendar and registration information can be found at their website www.iabca.com. |
